Oh man! What's not to love about this face? This is "Oscar", he's the star of the movie.
In Disney's family documentary "Chimpanzee", we follow the movements of two troops of rival chimps and focus primarily on Oscar and his trials and tribulations.
I love primates. If I had been focused enough and smart enough, and didn't hate bugs and snakes so much, I might have become a Jane Goodall type. They fascinate me. Chimps, Bonobos, Gorillas...I love them.
The use of tools demonstrated by these chimps is nothing sort of jaw-dropping. I can remember a time, when it was thought that primates didn't use, OR make tools and that discovery was monumental.
This film is rated G but I'm wondering if it is too slow moving for really young kids. They might lose interest. Certainly there is nothing objectionable about it and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Watch the trailer below or via this link. We rented it through Netflix.

Oscar was so incredibly sweet and cuddly. And it just broke my heart when he lost his family. I cried. Shoes made fun of me. A good time was had by all. Actually, this is random, but this was the first movie we watched where Rosie actually settled down for more than 10 minutes. She fell asleep on me and I was so grateful. Yes. Good times.
