Did you miss our first adventure? Well then you MUST go back and read about it. In late June of last year, my dear friend and I went on a trip to LA to visit my son. We're not seasoned travelers, and we're rural gals, so it was quite the adventure. Here are the links to those posts so you can see, that the upcoming adventure is not to be missed!
Part 1 The Intro to the Adventure
Part 2 Day One. From La Grande, to Portland to Los Angeles
Part 3 Day Two. The Santa Monica Pier and the Hollywood Sign
Part 4 Day Three. Watts Towers, Venice Beach Boardwalk, Venice Canals
Part 5 Venice continued
Part 6 Day Four. Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, Malibu and Santa Monica Beach
Part 7 Day Five. Echo Park Community, Runyan Canyon Park hike, Hollywood, Santa Monica Promenade, Santa Monica Beach, back to Echo Park, back to Santa Monica. Got it??
Part 8 Day Six. LAX, PDX, Vancouver WA, The Dalles, OR, La Grande, OR...HOME
Part 9 The Recap. Reflections and Lessons.
Really, I'm serious...go back and read those.
So, the next upcoming adventure happens in mid August. Thelma is moving away (*sniff*) to Montana in August. To start a new and fabulous life. To mark this transition, we will band together for yet another fantabulous Thelma and Louise Most Excellent COZUMEL, MEXICO Adventure.
Cozumel, is a little island off of the Yucatan Peninsula. Read up on it. Thelma's daughters went there last winter on a whim and we were so in love with their photos of blue water and white sand that we decided to take the plunge. We will be there for three full days and two half days (coming and going). So it will be a tad shorter than our LA trip and about the same cost with WAY better accommodations. We've booked a room in an all-inclusive golf resort (and we don't golf, but the price was right). I think mostly we will lounge on the beach and eat all we can at the buffets. Our only planned activity so far is that we booked a dolphin swim. That's on my bucket list....to get up close and personal with a dolphin. I'm terrified....and thrilled at the prospect.
There have already been some planning snafus and funding blessings. We booked in mid March. By the end of March, Delta had already cancelled our flights. I panicked. Thelma was out of town on spring break and I was freaking out. But I was able to rebook and rearrange.
See...here's how it will go (in theory): Thelma will have already moved to Montana by then. She will take a flight from there to Portland, Oregon, where my husband and I will have driven 4 hours to get to the airport to pick her up. We'll hang around Portland until evening, than go back to the airport where we will board a plane around 9 pm...fly to LA for about an hour, then on to Dallas for something like a 5 hour layover, cross a few times zones here and there and eventually arrive in Cozumel around 1:30 in the afternoon the following day. Oh yeah, baby, about 15+ hours of travel cluster just to get there. Apparently, from where we live, you can't just find a direct flight, or a straight-through flight. So you KNOW there will be adventures! And challenges to overcome. But we'll be doing it together and laughing about it all the way. Even if we get to Cozumel and have no luggage...we'll buy thong bikinis and say "SCREW IT!". OK, maybe not THONGS...ewww.
So stay tuned, because you KNOW I will write another fab Thelma and Louise Most Excellent Adventure series.
And....A-HEM! Notice that DONATION button. We can bring you more travel adventures with your donations to our entertainment pleasure. Hey...somebody's got to do it. We volunteer. Honestly...what would it take for someone to have a Travel Guide or Tourism agency fund us to visit their area and write up one of our famed (OK, *I* say they are famed) travel adventure guides? Fund us baby, we'll visit your location and give the scoop. If you're in the travel business, or know of someone who is, or know of websites to share our travel adventures with...SHARE the links. Share these links on your FB and Twitter and MySpace and Pintarest and WHEREVER pages so the word gets around. Networking is how we'll get our chance to travel more on some agency dime (or dollar). Thelma and Louise have itchy feet. Have estrogen and bladder control pads...will travel! In fact...I think we would make a fun travel reality TV show. Just sayin'.
Here's a preview of "glamorous" attractions. Since I can't pull off thin or sexy anymore, I'm going for mysterious starlet..kinda...sorta....I'm SO ready to go...Won't August hurry up and get her already?? Between the accidental Madonna high-beam flash and the Audrey Hepburn bag, Doesn't this just SCREAM Hollywood has-been??
I give opinions on all sort of random stuff EXCEPT religion and politics...two of the most divisive topics on the planet. I give advice and answer questions (like an advice column), and I love the topics of all things spiritual and metaphysical, parenting and general life issues. I'll review products, movies, books, you name it. Enter your email address in the blank below and click submit to subscribe to my new posts via email.
